In 2012, TDChristian High School bought the neighbouring fire hall at 325 Woodbridge Avenue from the City of Vaughan. After the firefighters moved in 2017 to their new station on Martin Grove Rd., the school renovated the building’s interior so that it could house a thrift store.

Fire Hall Thrift is a non-profit which is staffed primarily by volunteers; it raises money for the school and for community initiatives. In addition, the store doubles as the Fire Hall Experiential Learning Centre, a place where students gain hands-on learning experience in retail operations and marketing.

In June 2026, the school and its Board of Directors gave notice to the board of the Firehall Experiential Learning Centre (FELC) that it planned to use the fire hall to expand its educational programming. Since then, the FELC Board has been active in determining if the store will be re-located after it ceases its operations in the fire hall on September 1, 2026. The school is thankful to the many volunteers that have served on the board and/or worked in the store over the years. The school is especially grateful to Ms. Sandra Allen, the store manager and to Mr. Henry Eygenraam for chairing the FELC board over the last several years.

Beginning in September 2026, the space will be reimagined, and we are anticipating use of space by several different courses as a new vision for the space is realized. This “Innovation Centre” will hopefully become a hub for students to innovate, develop skills in STEM and entrepreneurship and participate in experiential learning that will inspire them to use the gifts and talents God has given them as they continue to develop in their learning. This will include a new drone pilot initiative beginning in the Gr. 9 STEM class, and a storefront to be used by the TDCafe and other student-led business ventures. Plans are ongoing for future programming, courses, and equipment, and we will continue to update the community as we further develop the learning space.
